Peer Support

“Some of the most comforting words in the universe are “me too”. That moment when you find out that your struggle is also someone else’s struggle, that you are not alone, and others have been down the same road”.   – Author Unknown

Northern Lights is a Peer to Peer Support set up which means that it is set up for women affected by cancer by women who have dealt with cancer personally. This relaxed format brings all women, all cancers, and all stages in a safe, secure and private space.

What you can expect when attending a meeting:

  • Emotion – We celebrate our good days and receive support throughout the bad days. We inspire and help each other navigate each of the steps to a cancer diagnosis, short term and long term treatment and survivorship.
  • Flexible meetings – We do a small mindfullness exercise, a check in, ice breaker and then conversations develop naturally from there. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you would like.
  • Judgement Free Zone
  • Canadian Cancer Society trained Peer Support Facilitator
  • Comfortable quiet locations that are perfect for private meetings.
